Top 3 Remote Control Helicopter With Live Camera [Review for 2018] – RC Helicopters With Camera

A lot of people assume that remote controlled helicopters and drones are very similar, if not identical. For one, they are both unmanned aerial vehicles. This is somewhat true, but once you look at drone helicopters with cameras side by side you’ll notice the very obvious differences.

RC helicopters are used much like drones are – for a hobby, aerial photography, you name it. Speaking of which, did you know that a lot of RC helicopters come with cameras? Not a lot of people actually know this, considering they’re often remembered or regarded as something that’s built or a model, in general.

I love RC helicopters, I think that they have just as much to offer as drones do, so I’ve decided to craft a review of my top 3 picks for the best RC helicopter with camera to give you an idea of how great they can actually be.

RC Helicopters With Camera Analysis

I love RC helicopters because of their general ability to be simple, relatively easy to fly unmanned aerial vehicles. They don’t come with extensive features, flashy specs, and don’t have a million controls to understand and learn.

However, what I don’t like about them is that there’s no real challenge to them. Sure, if you prefer to go with something more simpler then drone helicopters with cameras are right up your alley, but if you want anything RC with a decent camera, please get a drone instead.

RC helicopters may seem like a cheaper option, especially when you look at the two $37 ones I have in my above review, but did you know that there are some quality drones that are only $20?

In my honest opinion, I have to side with drones when it comes to the RC drones vs. RC helicopters argument. I just like how drones are more technical, extensive, and are generally a lot more exciting than RC helicopters, which are very limited in practically all departments.

Remote Control Helicopter With Live Camera FAQ

best drones without camera frequently asked questions

If you don’t see your question listed below in my FAQ section, let me know and I’ll do my best to help you out!

Do I need to register my RC helicopter?

The FAA has required everyone to register themselves, which will cost $5 every 3 years, as a “modeler” through their system, which you will need to do if you plan on buying and flying an RC helicopter. You will also need to have your registration number somewhere on the copter in the case it’s stolen or lost.

What are the FAA rules for RC helicopters?

The FAA created the Special Rule for Model Aircraft that includes both RC helicopters and RC planes. The following listed below are certain criteria that must be met if you are flying an RC helicopter:

  1. Only fly as a hobby or a recreational activity
  2. Register all model aircraft
  3. Fly within your model’s clear visual line-of-sight
  4. Follow all safety guidelines in your community and within the programming of the nationwide community-based organization
  5. You are able to fly a model under 55 pounds unless told otherwise by a community-based organization
  6. No flying near any other model aircraft
  7. Always notify air traffic control towers and airports before taking off if you are flying within a 5-mile radius
  8. Never fly your model near the efforts of emergency responses

How many channels do RC helicopters have?

RC helicopters tend to start at having 2 channels maximum, whereas drones usually have 4 minimum. One channel is used to control the main rotor’s speeds, another to control the right and left turning movement that varies the speed of the counter responsible for the main rotors.

The third channel controls the direction and the speed of the additional motor that can be found mounted of the copter’s tail boom plus a small fan blade. The fan/motor is vertically positioned in order to pitch the RC helicopter backward or forward to move in either direction.

RC helicopters can have more channels than this, but I thought I’d give you a short insight into them rather than go into an extensive lesson about each channel and what they do or are responsible for.

Top Remote Helicopters With Cameras

Drone helicopters with cameras are quite interesting, in my opinion. They’re simple machines made with a simple purpose – to be a fun, recreational hobby without all the flashy features and extensive technical specifications.
