The Best Drones Under 100

Without further delay, let’s get onto the best drones under 100! I’ve thrown in a couple of the best drone under 100 with camera for good measure, because I know for some of you that’s the make or break requirement.

Altair AA108

The AA108 by Altair is a bit over our price range of 100 USD, coming in at $130, but I thought I’d put it in anyway! Besides, what’s $30 over our limit anyway? Normally I wouldn’t do this, but because it’s a beginner drone disguised as something you’d think would cost way more, I put it in for good reason.

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Has a premium 720p HD camera that supports real-time video feeds in FPV and a 120-degree, wide-angle lens for photos and videos
  2. Features Altitude Hold, Headless Mode, 1-Button Takeoff, 1-Button Landing, Custom Route Modes, Out of Range Alarm, Low Battery Alarm, Emergency Landing, and more
  3. Uses 3 different flight skill levels – Beginner, Mid Level, and Advanced
  4. Has a flight range of up to 100 meters or 300 feet
  5. Total flight time of up to 10 minutes that is doubled with the second included LiPo battery for free
  6. Uses advanced remote control technology with a physical controller, no smartphone required for flight control
  7. Able to use with VR goggles, thanks to Virtual Reality Mode that is perfect for the more adventurous flier
  8. Has a maximum video transmission range of up between 40 to 50 meters, or 120 to 150 feet, when using FPV
  9. Has LED lights on the bottom that help with flight direction if you’re out of Headless Mode
  10. Able to fly indoors and can withstand a crash without breaking or spiraling out

The biggest pro that the AA108 by Altair has to offer is the fact that it offers both a camera and FPV capabilities, not to mention you can use it with a VR headset if you’ve got one or are looking to invest in one! It’s no doubt got my vote for the best FPV drone under 100!

The biggest con, however, is that you will need to supply your own 4GB MicroSD memory card if you want to save any videos, but that isn’t a huge deal.

UDI U818A

The U818A by UDI is one of the best drones under 100 USD for many reasons. It can be yours for as little as $90, which is cutting it close to our price mark, but it’s a great price for what you’re getting.

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Uses a 2MP HD camera with 1280x720p resolution at 30 FPS that’s able to do 3D images and videos
  2. Features Headless Mode, Return to Home, Custom Route Mode, Low Voltage Alarm, 360-Degree Flips, Emergency Stop, and more
  3. Uses a 6-axis gyro stabilization system
  4. Total flight time of between 7 to 9 minutes which can be tripled with the extra batteries included for free
  5. Has a transmission range of up to 300 feet
  6. Uses a blinking LED light for the low battery warning and another for low visibility and/or night flying
  7. Comes with a 4GB MicroSD card

The biggest pro that the U818A by UDI has to offer is the simple fact that it’s got a lot of great features that help you learn, a price you can’t say no to, and is an overall great stepping stone to more professional drones, should you choose to eventually move toward them.

The biggest con, however, is that hovering in place can be a little tricky. It doesn’t have any Altitude Hold-like features or anything of the sort, so be careful if you try to have it positioned in midair.

Hubsan X4 H107L

The X4 H107L by Hubsan is one of the cheapest yet fully functional drones I’ve ever seen. At this time of writing, it’s currently going for as little as $32 and focuses on simple flight characteristics instead of getting all fancy.

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Uses a 2.4GHz transmission frequency with 4 channels
  2. Has a durable, one-piece mainframe
  3. Uses a 6-axis gyro stabilization system
  4. Features various stunt modes
  5. Able to be flown both indoors and outside
  6. Has a transmission range of up to 300 feet
  7. Total flight time of up to 5 minutes

The biggest pro that the X4 H107L by Hubsan has to offer is the fact that it’s as simple as drones under 100 USD can possibly get. It’s not the best drone under 100 with a camera, but it’s definitely one of the best under 100 USD in general for its simplicity.

The biggest con, however, is that it can be difficult to fly. With this in mind, try to remember that this learning curve gives you a ton of potential. Difficult to control drones are the best for learning how to fly without having any fancy features to help you do so!

Syma X5C

Like the Hubsan, the X5C by Syma comes in at a measly $32! Fortunately for you, this one comes with a camera so you have the option for an insanely cheap drone that won’t drain your bank, but one that comes with a decent camera.

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Uses a camera with 2MP for photos and HD recording for videos
  2. Able to be flown both indoors and outside with a decent amount of resistance to the wind
  3. Uses a 6-axis gyro stabilization system
  4. Has a total flight time of up to 7 minutes
  5. Takes a 3.7V 500mAh LiPo battery
  6. Has a couple of LED lights for low visibility flying or flying at night
  7. Uses a 2.4GHz transmission frequency
  8. Has a transmission range of up to 150 feet

The biggest pro that the X5C by Syma has to offer is the camera. It’s pretty decent if you’re shooting footage or taking photos in the right setting with the right lighting, which is pretty surprising.

The biggest con, however, is that getting it to go in the right direction with the right elevation can be tricky. With this in mind, I recommend you try it out indoors a couple of times to get the hang of it.
